Myra Ancient City
The brightest city of Lycia; an ancient center identified with fascinating rock-cut tombs and Santa Claus (St. Nicholas).
History and Architecture
Myra was one of the six most important cities of the Lycian League and served as its capital for a long time. The city is famous for two main features: its unique Lycian rock-cut tombs imitating wooden house architecture, and St. Nicholas, who served as bishop here in the 4th century AD. With its massive Roman theater and Andriake Harbor, Myra was among the most vibrant trade and faith centers of the ancient period.
